We believe that all people are created equal and that they remain equal in human dignity and innate worth throughout their lives regardless of their circumstances and regardless of the life and living choices that they make.
We recoginze, though, that we live in imperfect world and socieity and that not all have equal opportunity at birth nor do all have equal resources with which to encounter the challenges of aging. Nevertheless, regardless of socioeconomic status, we are committed to human dignity for all people.
This equality of dignity, and the mutual respect it fosters, is a foundational principle for an Age Friendly America.
The story of our movement to improve the experience of aging in America has its roots in the bold American experiment of 1776. We were then alone, an island of liberty in a world dominated by monarchical rule and aristocratic privilege.
